Bill Of Rights’
WASHINGTON – Earlier today President Bush

his briefing when he said, "This bill puts progress
before politics and the President will sign it if
it is sent to him."
"This bill is the final chapter in the maturation
of a ‘Patients’ Bill of Rights.’ We have included
the provisions that worked, and found consensus on the
unresolved issues," said Ways and Means Committee
Chairman Bill Thomas (R-CA).
"Our bill is ripe for the President’s
signature, and we are working every day to build a
majority so that we can deliver real patient protections
and affordable health care to Americans. The President
has recognized our efforts by unequivocally endorsing
this bill," said Chairman Thomas.
The House bipartisan legislation was crafted by Dr.
Ernie Fletcher (R-KY), Rep. Collin Peterson (D-MN), Rep.
Nancy Johnson (R-CT) and Rep. Richard Burr (R-NC).
Chairman Thomas played a key role in reaching consensus
on the proposal which will make quality patient care the
