Committee to Markup Three Bills at 5 p.m.

"Hope for Children Act," "Fairness for Foster Care Families Act," and "The Fallen Survivor Benefit Fairness Act" Under Consideration

Originally Scheduled for 10 a.m.

WASHINGTON – The House Ways and Means Committee will consider three bills during a markup scheduled for Wednesday, May 9th at 5 p.m. in 1100 Longworth. Please note: This markup was previously scheduled to take place a 10 a.m.

The first bill considered will be HR 622, the "Hope for Children Act." This bill is the President’s proposal to increase the adoption tax credit.

The second bill considered will be HR 586, the "Fairness for Foster Care Families Act." This bill would allow more foster families to take advantage of tax benefits available in the law by eliminating the age restriction and expanding the number of entities who are eligible to place individuals and make foster care payments.

The final bill under consideration at the markup is HR 1727, the "Fallen Hero Survivor Benefit Fairness Act." This bill would provide for consistent treatment of survivor benefits for public safety officers killed in the line of duty.
