Welfare Experts Lend Perspective
Members Ready to Listen and Learn

WASHINGTON-Six years ago, Congress passed a major revision of the welfare program. This reform resulted in huge declines in caseloads, and the lowest child poverty rates in decades. Congress now faces the opportunity for further revisions of the welfare program. But, these adjustments must be based on what has worked.

Chairman Herger said, "I believe in an open process and am pleased that we will hear the views of so many individuals and organizations. Their insight will help us make the next step in welfare reform even more successful."
