WASHINGTON -- Chairman Bill Thomas (R-CA) and the Committee on Ways and Means are working to improve upon the success of the 1996 welfare reform legislation.

The Committee has scheduled the markup of H.R. 4090, the “Personal Responsibility, Work, and Family Promotion Act of 2002” and H.R.__, the “Encouraging Work and Supporting Marriage Act of 2002”, to be held on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at 1:00 pm in 1100 Longworth House Office Building.
