Change in Bills for Subcommittee Written Comments on Technical
Corrections to U.S. Trade Laws and Miscellaneous Duty Suspension Bills

Congressman Philip M. Crane (R-IL), Chairman, Subcommittee on Trade of the Committee on Ways and Means, today announced that the Subcommittee is requesting additional written comments on the following two bills:  H.R. 4166 – requires the United States Customs Service to reliquidate certain entries of peanuts; and H.R. 4157 - amends Chapter 51 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule by striking subheading 5111.11.70 and inserting in numerical sequence new subheadings and superior text, with such superior text having the same degree of indention as the article description for subheading 5111.11.30.

Also, the following three bills are being withdrawn from the written comments list: H.R. 4288 – amends Subchapter II of chapter 99 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States by inserting in numerical sequence the following new heading: 9902.75.04 Nickel powder (provided for in subheading 7504.00.00), as temporarily duty–free; H.R. 4562 – a bill to suspend temporarily the duty on upholstery leather; and H.R. 4563 – amends Subchapter II of chapter 99 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States by inserting in numerical sequence the following heading: 9902.41.04 Pretanned bovine leather (provided for in subheading 4104.11.50), as temporarily duty–free.
