Washington, DC – Human Resources Subcommittee Chairman Geoff Davis (R-KY) issued the following statement after attending today’s presidential signing ceremony at the White House for H.R. 2883, The Child and Family Services Improvement and Innovation Act:

“I commend the President for signing The Child and Family Services Improvement and Innovation Act into law.  This law has numerous goals: ensuring vulnerable children can remain with their parents or be supported by other caring adults; renewing waiver authority so States can test new and better ways of serving children at risk of abuse and neglect; and establishing child welfare data standards so States can better communicate between social service programs and ultimately better serve children, families, and taxpayers.  The bill does not add to the deficit, and is an example of how we can improve programs in a bipartisan way, while still living within our means.  I commend Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) and Human Resources Subcommittee Ranking Member Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), as well as Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-UT), for their many important contributions to this legislation.  I am grateful for their efforts and proud that we were able to work together to pass this initiative that will help children and families struggling through difficult times.”
