Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Committee on Ways and Means held its organizational meeting today to finalize subcommittee assignments, adopt committee rules and approve the committee’s oversight letter - a general statement of priorities and agenda for the 110th Congress. Today’s meeting was the first full meeting of the Committee under Chairman Charles B. Rangel.

Chairman Rangel and Ranking Member Jim McCrery issued the following joint statement:

"As the Ways and Means Committee begins a new Congress, we will be rolling up our sleeves and working in a bipartisan fashion to deal with the challenges facing America. There will be times when we cannot agree with each other, but we hope to work together whenever we can, and disagree respectfully when we can’t. Hopefully, this spirit of bipartisanship will last throughout the 110th Congress, and will yield a record of legislative accomplishments that both parties can be proud of."
