Brady Statement on May Jobs Report

“This jobs report is troubling news"
June 3, 2016 — Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the Department of Labor’s May 2016 jobs report:

This jobs report is troubling news. With job growth slowing, involuntary part time work rising, and the labor force shrinking, this proves that our economy isn’t creating opportunity for all Americans. After seven years of the Obama Administration’s slow-growth policies, our economy is at a standstill while our global competitors are propelling forward. The American people deserve a better alternative – and House Republicans will deliver it.

“Starting next week, we are unveiling our pro-growth solutions for addressing some of our nation’s most pressing challenges. We refuse to accept millions of families living in poverty. We refuse to accept slow wage growth. We refuse to accept a failing health care system. And we refuse to accept a  broken tax code that discourages innovation and job creation. We look forward to offering the American people an alternative that will move our country forward.”

Note: The Department of Labor reported today the economy added 38,000 jobs in May and the unemployment rate was 4.7 percent.
