WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) announced three new additions to his Ways and Means Committee senior staff team. Barbara Angus will serve as Chief Tax Counsel for the Committee and Emily Murry will serve as the Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Health. Machalagh Carr recently began serving as the Committee’s Oversight Staff Director.

Barbara, Emily and Machalagh will work on a range of consequential policy issues that have a direct impact on the lives of millions of Americans. With these talented individuals joining our senior staff team, we’ll have even more momentum to effectively advance our robust, pro-growth agenda,” said Chairman Brady.
Angus currently is a Principal with Ernst & Young where she is leader of international tax policy services. Earlier in her career, she served as International Tax Counsel for the Treasury Department, Principal with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the federal tax policy group, and Business Tax Counsel for the Joint Committee on Taxation. She received her bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, her JD from Harvard Law School, and her MBA from the University of Chicago.
Murry currently serves as Senior Policy Advisor to House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, for whom she works on healthcare and other policy issues. Previously, she worked as Professional Staff of the House Republican Study Committee. Earlier in her career, she worked for Congressman Tom Price and Congressman Ken Calvert. Murry received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California.
Carr most recently served on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform as Director of Oversight and Investigations. Prior to this, she served as Senior Counsel of Oversight and Investigations for the House Committee on Natural Resources. Before coming to Capitol Hill, Carr served in the Office of Global Compliance of an international energy company and was previously in private practice. Carr received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada and her JD from Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law.
