WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) announced today that the Committee will hold a hearing entitled “The Tax Treatment of Health Care” on Thursday, April 14th at 10:00 AM in room 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building. The hearing will examine how the tax code affects our health care system. Members will also discuss ways to lower health care costs, improve choice and access, and ensure our tax code treats all Americans fairly.
Upon announcing the hearing, Chairman Brady said:
“Every aspect of our tax code should be built for growth, and that includes making health care more accessible and affordable for all Americans. Unfortunately, too often our broken tax code does the opposite, costing American taxpayers trillions of dollars in the process. As we work to develop a patient-centered health care system that increases quality and choice and lowers costs, we must work together to reform current tax policies so they are simpler, flatter, and fairer and help our economy grow. The hearing next week is a critical part of our effort to do just that.”
