Reps. David Schweikert, Jackie Walorski, and Carlos Curbelo Recommended to Serve on the Ways and Means Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) today released the following statement after the House Steering Committee recommended Reps. David Schweikert (R-AZ), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), and Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) to serve on the Ways and Means Committee:
“David, Jackie, and Carlos are excellent additions to the Ways and Means Committee. They are joining our team at a historic moment as we move forward on pro-growth tax reform, repealing Obamacare, and ensuring Americans finally have access to affordable care.
“Each of our new Members has the perfect mix of policy expertise and real world experience. Most importantly, they understand exactly how the decisions we make at our Committee impact the lives of people across our country.
“While serving as a state representative, David helped pass major tax reform for his state. His experience will be critical as we work to turn our ‘Built for Growth’ tax reform blueprint into law.
“As a former state representative and now a Member of Congress, Jackie has repeatedly led the way on legislation that will grow our economy, increase wages, and help lift more Americans out of poverty.
“As a former small business owner in South Florida, Carlos understands the challenges our Main Street businesses face daily. He will be a strong advocate for America’s workers and local job creators.
“With a full roster, Ways and Means Republicans are ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work on President-elect Trump’s and the American people’s top priorities.”
