Brady Statement on July 2017 Jobs Report

August 04, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the Department of Labor’s July 2017 jobs report:

“This is a solid report. Our economy is making steady progress with more people entering the labor force and continued job creation. But this report also shows too many Americans are still having a hard time finding good-paying jobs, getting a raise, and providing for their families. Tax reform is our best opportunity in a generation to change that storyline – to create even more job opportunities for workers, increase take-home pay for families, and make our economy stronger for all Americans.

“For the first time since President Reagan signed tax reform into law 31 years ago, the House, Senate, and the Trump Administration are on track to deliver pro-growth tax reform this year that will improve the lives of workers and families across the country.”

Note: The Department of Labor reported today the economy added 209,000 jobs in July and the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent.
