WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after President Trump’s State of the Union Address: 

“Tonight, President Trump spoke directly to the American people about the progress we’ve made together over the last year – and the promise of even more strength, security, and prosperity to come in the years ahead.

“When President Trump took office, he made a promise to the American people to lower taxes, create jobs and increase wages, and get our economy going. Together – President Trump, Congress, and the American people – we delivered the most transformational overhaul of our nation’s tax system in a generation, and the results are already making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. 

“Workers and families are seeing bigger paychecks, more benefits, and lower utility bills – and they’ll soon see more of their hard-earned money in each pay stub. These benefits are just the beginning – as more job creators bring money back to invest in our local communities, drive up wages, and help our economy soar. 

“Of course, as we heard President Trump say tonight, we have more work to do. The President laid out his vision for further growing our economy, strengthening our competitiveness, and helping more Americans get ahead. This week, Republicans in Congress are working on ways we can continue to deliver those results for the American people this year.
