WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Tax Policy Subcommittee Chairman Vern Buchanan (R-FL) announced today the start of a series of Full Committee and Tax Policy Subcommittee hearings on how tax reform is growing the U.S. economy, creating jobs here at home, and increasing paychecks for hard-working Americans. The first hearing, a Full Committee hearing called “Growing Our Economy and Creating Jobs,” is focused on the positive economic developments since enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in 1100 Longworth House Office Building, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Upon announcing the hearing, Chairman Brady said:
“It is exciting to see tax reform boosting our economy and giving families and workers across the country the relief they deserve. Wages are growing at their fastest pace in 10 years, unemployment claims are at their lowest since the 1960s, and Main Street businesses are expanding like never before. This hearing series will focus on how the economy is expanding thanks to tax reform and how we are keeping our workers competitive, increasing people’s paychecks, and making America even stronger and more innovative.”
Subcommittee Chairman Buchanan said:
“The new sweeping tax reform law is producing results. Employers across the country have given generous bonuses and pay raises and have hired more workers. I look forward to learning more about the positive impact the new law has had on the economy and how it is helping families realize the American dream.”
