WASHINGTON, D. C. – House Ways and Means Human Resources Subcommittee Chairman Adrian Smith (R-NE) announced today that the Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “The Opioid Crisis: Implementation of the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA).” This hearing will review the Department of Health and Human Services’ ongoing progress implementing recently enacted legislation to address family substance abuse issues, improve child well-being, support family caregivers, and strengthen families. This hearing will take place on Tuesday, July 24, at 10:00 AM in 1100 Longworth House Office Building.
Upon announcing the hearing, Chairman Smith said:
“There is an unsettling trend in our nation––an increasing number of children are being removed from their homes as more families struggle to address complex issues, ranging from substance abuse to mental health. Congress took action to reverse this trend by enacting the Family First Prevention Services Act this past February and it is critical we focus on implementing this law to strengthen families across the country.”
