Washington, D.C. – Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the Labor Department’s July 2018 jobs report:
“Today’s report marks over 1.5 million jobs that have been created following Republican tax reform. This great news rounds out a week when we learned workers’ wages are growing faster than they have in a decade and the U.S. economy grew at its fastest pace in a single quarter since 2014. Democrats have opposed at every turn our efforts to strengthen our workforce and give Main Street businesses the tools they need to succeed, but President Trump and Congressional Republicans are continuing to build on the increasing successes of tax reform to keep growing this economy.”
Note: The U.S. Department of Labor reported today that the economy added 157,000 jobs in July and the unemployment rate was 3.9 percent.
