Washington, D.C. – The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the Labor Department’s November 2019 jobs report:
“America’s labor market remains strong. And today’s report shows our economy is still smashing expectations under our new tax code. Even with a downturn in the global economy, the U.S. is adding jobs at a record pace. Unemployment has remained under four percent for 20 months, jobs have been added consistently for 110 months, and wages continue to rise faster than they did under the Obama administration. Growth remains the key to keeping the U.S. workforce ahead of the rest of the world, and it’s paramount that House Democrats drop their rush to impeachment and instead work with us to pass USMCA without delay.”
Note: The U.S. Department of Labor reported today that the economy added 266,000 jobs in November, well above all forecasts. The unemployment rate reached a 50-year low, clocking in at 3.5 percent.
