BRADY: A ‘BLUE-COLLAR BOOM’ FUELED BY PRO-GROWTH REFORMS

February 07, 2020

Washington, D.C. — The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the Labor Department’s January 2019 jobs report:

“Speaker Pelosi may have ripped up the President’s State of the Union, but the ‘Blue Collar Boom’ in today’s jobs report shows our pro-growth policies are leaving her socialist agenda in tatters. Our economy added a healthy 225,000 jobs last month, with unemployment remaining at historic lows. Under this President’s leadership, Americans’ optimism toward their personal financial situation is at an all-time high and paychecks are soaring.

“Every Democrat in New Hampshire this week is promising to take away your money, eliminate your private health-care plans, and increase your energy bills. I hope instead that they will recognize that our formula for growth is working, and join our fight to grow the economy and continue this historic economic expansion. They can start by getting on board with another round of tax reform.”

Note: The U.S. Department of Labor reported today that the economy added 225,000 jobs in January. The unemployment rate was 3.6 percent.
