Chairman Smith Statement on the Passing of Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08) released the following statement on the passing of Representative Bill Pascrell (NJ-09):

“I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Congressman Bill Pascrell’s passing. Throughout his distinguished career, whether as mayor, state assemblyman, or a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Bill devoted his life to the service of others and to the people of New Jersey. His unwavering dedication and tireless work ethic were evident in every role he undertook. Bill brought fiery passion to the Committee as an unwavering advocate for New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District and his hometown of Paterson. His presence on the Ways and Means Committee will be profoundly missed by all of us who served alongside him.

“During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, staff, and the people of Paterson. Rep. Pascrell’s commitment and passion for service will continue to be an example to us all.”
