Rolla, MO – Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08) issued the following statement to mark the one-year anniversary of the brutal terrorist attack on Israel that took the lives of over 1,200 innocent men, women, and children and injured thousands more.
Chairman Smith said, “In the year since Hamas terrorists launched an unprecedented assault on the State of Israel, the senseless aggression against the Jewish people has not ceased. The United States will continue to stand firmly behind our greatest ally in the Middle East as they work to defend themselves from not only Hamas, but Iran and its insidious proxies who seek to destroy them.
“While Israel fights to defend itself abroad, I will continue to be unwavering in my commitment to protect Jewish Americans from antisemitic intimidation, harassment, and violence here at home. As we remember those who lost their lives in the brutal attack of October 7, I pray all Americans will honor their memory by renewing our commitment to the State of Israel and eradicating antisemitism in all forms. Together, we must confront these shared enemies and ensure that Israel—and the Jewish people—never stand alone.”
