WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08) released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for June 2025:
“The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is the answer for the working families who spent years suffering under the Biden Administration’s inflation crisis. Under the Republican economic policies President Trump just signed into law, the average American family is not only protected against a 22 percent tax hike, but they also immediately see a $600 tax cut. Additionally, families will see up to $11,000 more in take-home pay. The One, Big, Beautiful Bill gives tipped workers a $1,300 tax cut and overtime hourly workers a $1,400 tax cut. Seniors will receive $63 billion in tax relief to enjoy retirement with dignity and security. That’s real money that will make a real difference for working-class Americans.
“Sadly, every single House Democrat – the same folks who supported the rampant spending that led to the worst inflation crisis in a generation – voted against tax relief for waitresses, blue-collar workers, and seniors and instead voted for the largest tax increase in American history.”
