Stimulus on Track to Meet Job Projection Goals – for Washington, D.C.

October 08, 2009

The table below compares the White House’s February 2009 projection of the number of jobs that would be created by the 2009 stimulus law (through the end of 2010) with the actual change in state payroll employment through August 2009 (the latest state-by-state figures currently available).  As this table shows, the only place in America solidly on track to meet the Administration’s job creation projection is Washington, D.C.  Meanwhile, the rest of the country is now almost 6 million jobs short of the Administration’s projections (i.e. the total of the 2.3 million jobs lost between February and August 2009 and the 3.5 million jobs promised, but not created to date).
