Camp Applauds Stabilizing Medicare Physician Payments for Next Year and Repealing $19 Billion from ObamaCare

December 09, 2010

Washington, DC – Ways and Means Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-MI) made the following statement upon passage of H.R. 4994, the “Medicare and Medicaid Extenders Act of 2010”:

“It is good news that Medicare physician payments will be stable for the next year.  However, it is time for Congress to end this problem and find a permanent, fiscally responsible solution.  This bill shows a new willingness to undo parts of the health care law, even by Democrats.  The Democrats’ rush to pass the health care law on a partisan basis subjected taxpayer funds to abuse and fraud.  With this bill we have begun dismantling the Democrats’ health care overhaul by ensuring taxpayers are better protected by recapturing $19 billion in overpayments that would have resulted from ObamaCare. I expect this will be the first of many provisions from the Democrats’ health care law that can be repealed and replaced with common sense reforms.”
