WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) announced today that the Subcommittee will hold a Member Day hearing entitled “Legislation to Improve Tax Administration” on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM in room 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building. The hearing will provide Members of Congress with an opportunity to present their proposals for improving the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Upon announcing the hearing, Chairman Jenkins said:
“The last time Congress made meaningful IRS reforms, nearly two decades ago, I was a practicing CPA helping individuals navigate the bungling bureaucracy at the IRS. Today, the agency faces serious challenges that make it harder to serve the very people it was created to help: hardworking taxpayers. Members of Congress are committed to making good on our promises to reform the IRS and ensure it finally delivers better customer service, improves taxpayer rights, and ensures taxpayer access to resources. Our hearing is an opportunity for members to discuss their best legislative ideas that will finally help ensure the agency is working for taxpayers. We look forward to hearing more about these bold solutions at the hearing.”
