Washington, D.C. — The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the Labor Department’s December 2019 jobs report:
“Two years after passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the U.S. economy has now created 3.2 million more jobs than projected before President Trump’s tax reform. 145,000 jobs were added last month, wage growth remains solid, and unemployment continues at a 50-year low.
“No wonder three out of four Americans rate the economy as ‘excellent’ or ‘good,’ the highest in two decades.
“There is more growth to be had in the U.S. economy entering 2020. We urge the Senate to quickly approve the new trade agreement with Mexico and Canada and applaud President Trump for concluding the Phase 1 trade agreement with China.”
Note: The U.S. Department of Labor reported today that the economy added 145,000 jobs in December. The unemployment rate was 3.5 percent.
