Washington, D.C. — The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) issued the following statement after the Bureau of Economic Analysis released its report on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the fourth quarter of 2019:
“Since President Trump was elected, our pro-growth policies have pushed our economic growth back into the fast lane. With growth in the 4th quarter at 2.1 percent, 2019 was a year where Americans got back to work, provided for their families, and demonstrated the dynamism of the American marketplace. In fact, despite a global downturn, our economy has grown every year a full percentage point above other G7 countries’ average. Real GDP has grown at a 2.5 percent annual rate for the first three years of this administration, beating CBO’s projections prior to the 2016 election. This is the economy Americans deserve, and the one in which they will continue to thrive.”
