WASHINGTON – The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after House Republicans elected Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO), a member of the Ways and Means Committee, to serve as the top Republican on the House Budget Committee for the 117th Congress:
“Ways and Means and Budget share a special bond, and I’m thrilled that our conference has elected my friend Jason Smith to lead Republicans on the Budget Committee this next Congress,” Rep. Brady said. “He’s a fiscal conservative who is ready to be in our first line of defense against Democrats’ radical socialist agenda that will hike taxes and spend recklessly. Jason will put our workers, families, and small businesses first so we can recover from COVID-19 and rebuild the greatest economy in American history.”
