Brady and A. Smith: Indo-Pacific Economic Framework Presents Strong Opportunity, But Isn’t Nearly Ambitious Enough

May 23, 2022 — Blog    — Press Releases    — Trade

After the Biden Administration announced its new Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, Ways and Means Republican Leader Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade Republican Leader Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE) issued the following statement:

“The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework is a strong opportunity for the United States to raise standards and open markets for American-made products and services, but the Administration’s current plan isn’t nearly ambitious enough. It needs to do more than simply include some Republican priorities, such as eliminating barriers to digital and agricultural trade, and it must obtain Congressional approval as the Constitution requires.”
