Brady Statement on June 2017 Jobs Report

July 7, 2017 — Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the Department of Labor’s June 2017 jobs report:

“This new report shows positive gains: job creation came in higher than expected and the labor force grew. While I appreciate these clear signs of improvement, we have a lot more work to do to make it easier for all Americans to earn higher wages, find good-paying jobs, and get ahead.

“With President Trump in the White House, Republicans have already taken historic steps to roll back damaging regulations that have discouraged investment, dragged down our nation’s productivity, and left too many workers waiting for better employment opportunities.

“Our action so far is only the beginning.

“Ways and Means Republicans are also moving forward now on permanent, pro-growth tax reform because it is our single best opportunity to rev up our nation’s economy. Working with President Trump and the Senate, we will deliver bold reforms this year that spur job creation, allow workers to keep more of their hard-earned paychecks, and improve the lives of all Americans for generations to come.”

Note: The Department of Labor reported today the economy added 222,000 jobs in June and the unemployment rate was 4.4 percent.
