Brady Statement on the Retirement of Rep. Dave Reichert

September 06, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement regarding Rep. Dave Reichert’s (R-WA) announcement that he will retire from Congress at the conclusion of the 115th Congress:

“Throughout his nearly 50 years of public service – in the U.S. Air Force, in law enforcement, and in Congress – Dave Reichert has always put the people of Washington first. It’s been an honor to serve alongside him on the Ways and Means Committee. From tax policy to child welfare to complex issues on international trade, Dave is an outstanding leader. That is especially true when it comes to his work as Chairman of the Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee, where he continues to fight for pro-growth trade policies that benefit all Americans. Dave is a devoted public servant, an accomplished legislator, and a dear friend.

“I am grateful that Dave will remain in Congress during this consequential time as we work to reform our broken tax code and strengthen our trade policies. We need his experience and dedication as we work to deliver real results for the American people.”
