Brady: Washington Price-Setting Scheme Will Result in Fewer Generic Medicines Available for Seniors

November 03, 2021

Warning of the dangers to seniors’ access to generic drugs in Democrats’ latest price-setting scheme, Republican Leader of the House Ways and Means Committee Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) issued the following statement:

“Since Democrats in Congress unanimously fought against creating the life-saving medicine program for seniors known as Medicare Part D, seniors should be alarmed whenever Democrats start tinkering with a program they tried to block.

“This latest Washington price-setting scheme will result in fewer generic medicines available for seniors, which is dangerous. Generics are the very low-cost options that help patients get access to affordable medicines. We need more generics, not less, and we need them faster.

“I predict what seniors will experience are fewer affordable generics, more Washington control over your medicine decisions, and an America even less prepared for the next pandemic.”
