Brady: W&M Republicans Are Working Now with President Trump to Help More People Achieve the American Dream

February 28, 2017 — Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after President Trump’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress.

“Tonight, President Trump spoke about the American spirit that inspires people in every community across our great nation. His speech was bold, specific, and focused on helping more people in our country get ahead in their lives. The President’s remarks made it clear once again that the Trump Administration is serious about working with Congress to solve the big problems that Washington has failed to confront for years.

“Ways and Means Republicans are at work now to make the President’s legislative goals reality. As Chairman of our Committee, I was encouraged by the President’s call for historic, pro-growth tax reform that will empower families and job creators and level the playing field for our workers.

“It was also great to hear the President’s strong support for our efforts to repeal Obamacare and help Americans access the affordable, quality health care options that are right for them—not those dictated by Washington. This month we will advance legislation to provide Americans with flexibility and choice through portable tax credits and expanded health savings accounts.

“Ways and Means Republicans will lead the way on a range of legislation that will break down economic barriers that make it harder for Americans to achieve their dreams and provide for their families.

“I appreciated the President’s leadership tonight and am excited to work with him on his agenda to help Texans and all Americans.”
