Brady: Workers Need Targeted Relief Now

December 4, 2020 — Coronavirus Bulletin    — Press Releases

WASHINGTON – The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released the November jobs report:

“This is clear evidence that Speaker Pelosi’s efforts to sabotage the economy ahead of the election hurt a lot of workers and small businesses.

“While Democrats in Congress dither over legalizing pot and protecting exotic cats, more and more Americans are leaving the labor market and small business optimism is waning.

“Congress doesn’t need to spend trillions of dollars — targeted relief that keeps small businesses alive and gets people back to work is the urgent priority. Democrats must not let this year end with politics; it is time for action.”

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported jobs report reported that employment rose by 245,000 in November, and the unemployment rate edged down to 6.7 percent.
