“Hi, I’m Congressman Adrian Smith, representing the Third District of Nebraska.

“Today I’m in North Platte here at the Bailey Yard, the world’s largest railyard.  

“Railroads have been bringing opportunity to Nebraska since the 1860s. 

“On the Ways and Means Committee, we are wanting to grow opportunity for places like this and all across America through tax reform—simplifying our tax code. 

“The Tax Foundation has actually stated that our plan would put about $4,900 in the pockets of each family across America. 

“This is so important as we look for opportunity for the future. 

“That means more money in your pockets. That means more money for you to invest—for you to spend on your family, to invest in your community, and plan for the future. 

“Simplifying our tax code is the best way to grow our economy. We are working hard to make sure that it gets done as we prepare for the future.”
