HEARING: Brady Announces Witnesses for First Committee Hearing of 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) announced the witnesses for the Committee’s first hearing of the year that will focus on Reaching America’s Potential: Delivering Growth and Opportunity for All Americans. The Committee is pleased to welcome Doug Holtz-Eakin, Kevin Hassett, Stephen Moore, and Jared Bernstein.

  • Doug Holtz-Eakin is currently the President of the American Action Forum. Previously, he served as Director of the Congressional Budget Office and was Chief Economist on President George W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisors.
  • Kevin Hassett is the State Farm James Q. Wilson Chair in American Politics and Culture at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) where he is also a resident scholar and Director of Economic Policy Studies. Earlier in his career, he was a Senior Economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, an Associate Professor of economics and finance at Columbia University, and a Policy Consultant to the U.S. Department of Treasury under President George H.W. Bush and President Bill Clinton.
  • Stephen Moore is the Distinguished Visiting Fellow at The Heritage Foundation’s Project for Economic Growth. Prior to this, he wrote on the economy and public policy for The Wall Street Journal and was a member of its editorial board.
  • Jared Bernstein is a Senior Fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Before joining the Center, he served as Chief Economist and Economic Adviser to Vice President Joe Biden, Executive Director of the White House Task Force on the Middle Class, and was a member of President Barack Obama’s economic team.
