Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement in response to the announcement that fellow Committee member Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-PA) will not seek reelection.

“Jim Gerlach is a respected leader on the Ways and Means Committee and in the Congress.  He is a true professional dedicated to finding real solutions for his constituents and the American people.  As a Member of the Health Subcommittee, he worked to ensure that the availability of our nation’s most cutting edge treatments and vaccines, including the quadrivalent flu vaccine, are available to the public.  As a member of the Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee, Jim worked to fix our broken tax code so that it is simpler and fairer for all families.  As the Chairman of the Manufacturing Tax Reform Working Group, Jim led a bipartisan effort to address ways in which reform could improve opportunities for job creation and investment in the manufacturing industry.  I will continue to turn to Jim for his knowledge in these and other areas throughout 2014 to advance the committee’s agenda for economic growth.  On behalf of the Ways and Means Committee, I wish Jim and his family the very best.”
