HEARING: Chairman Tiberi Announces Health Subcommittee Hearing on MACRA Implementation

CMS Acting Administrator Slavitt to Testify
May 4, 2016 — Hearing    — Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Committee Health Subcommittee Chairman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) announced that the Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “Implementation of Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA).” At the hearing, members will discuss the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed rule on implementing MACRA, which was signed into law in April 2015. The bipartisan legislation permanently repealed the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), reforming how doctors get paid for treating Medicare patients. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, May 11, at 2:00 PM in 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building.

Upon announcing the hearing, Chairman Tiberi said:

“By passing MACRA last year, members on both sides of the aisle reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Medicare for our nation’s seniors. Now it’s time to make sure this important law works as intended – improving the quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries and providing clarity and certainty for the doctors who serve them. Our hearing with Acting Administrator Slavitt is an opportunity to discuss the proposed rule and how it could affect doctors, patients, and health care providers. We will reiterate what we expect from CMS and remain actively involved as they implement the law.”
