Camp Statement on the Retirement of Congressman Geoff Davis at the End of 2012

December 16, 2011

Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement in response to the announced retirement of fellow Committee member Rep. Geoff Davis (R-KY) at the end of the 112th Congress.

“Geoff is a personal friend, a trusted colleague and a distinguished veteran of America’s military.  Geoff is a true citizen – having given back to his country and community throughout his life.  When he leaves public office at the end of next year, I have no doubt that he will continue to advance America’s most treasured principles – freedom and liberty.  On the Ways and Means Committee, Geoff ably leads our Human Resources Subcommittee and advances commonsense reforms to help get Americans back to work, while protecting the vulnerable and those most in need.  I expect that his efforts on these fronts will continue to be met with success throughout 2012.  I have great admiration for Geoff, and his departure at the end of next year means Congress will lose one of the most decent and honorable men I have had the privilege to serve with.  On behalf of the Ways and Means Committee, I wish Geoff and his family the very best.”
