Camp Statement on Two-Year Anniversary of Democrats’ Health Care Law

March 22, 2012

Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement regarding the second anniversary of the Democrats’ health care law tomorrow:

“After two years, instead of lower costs, which the President promised, health care costs are still going up and too many Americans are losing the health coverage they have and like because of the Democrats’ health care law.  Adding insult to injury, the costs of this law are increasing.  The original price tag has doubled to nearly $2 trillion, no wonder more than half of all Americans support repeal of the law.  Worst of all, we have received this bad news even before much of the law has gone into effect.  Still to come are more regulations, red-tape, and an unconstitutional mandate that forces all Americans to purchase government-prescribed health insurance.  This law must be repealed and replaced with fiscally responsible, patient-centered reforms like those that House Republicans have proposed – the only reforms that non-partisan experts have said will actually make health insurance more affordable for the American people.”
