Camp: Administration Must Turn Over Enrollment Figures

November 01, 2013

Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) wrote to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Marilyn Tavenner requesting that CMS make all information regarding enrollment in the ObamaCare Exchanges immediately available.

Yesterday, CBS News reported the Obama Administration has daily enrollment figures and notes that CMS is holding twice daily meetings discussing the Exchanges and enrollment.  This is a direct contradiction to testimony that Tavenner provided the Committee this week when she repeatedly stated that enrollment numbers would not be available until mid-November.

Chairman Camp made the following statement, “I am extremely disappointed that, yet again, the Administration has refused to be open and transparent with Congress.  Americans deserve access to affordable health care, but ObamaCare is failing to deliver.  I will not wait until around mid-November for the Administration’s scrubbed and spun numbers.  If the Administration does not deliver these numbers by close of business today, I will have no other option than to subpoena this information.”

In the letter, the Chairman demanded CMS provide:

  • All enrollment data to date by close of business today; and
  • Each day’s enrollment data no later than 5:00 p.m. the following business day beginning immediately.
