Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released its unemployment report for January 2014.
“The fact that there were fewer jobs created than expected is another reminder that Washington must focus on real solutions that can strengthen the economy, get people back to work, and, most importantly, start seeing wages increase for American workers. I urge the President to look at this disappointing report and redouble his efforts to convince those in his party that we must produce job-creating trade agreements, and that starts by quickly passing the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities Act. Furthermore, we cannot continue to sit back while foreign countries actively reform their tax codes and lower their tax rates. America must get back in the game and ensure our companies and workers are fighting on a level playing field. Real tax reform can lead to millions of new jobs and more take-home pay for hardworking taxpayers.”
