WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement regarding the Department of Labor’s jobs report for December 2015:
“While this report is better than expected, we know that millions of more Americans would be working today if the Obama Administration had spent less time growing Washington and more time growing our local economy. When so many people remain unemployed and underemployed, we must continue to take more action. If President Obama wants to make a real difference during his last year in office, he’ll use his final State of the Union Address to propose new ways to break down barriers to job creation and encourage economic growth.
“Members of the Ways and Means Committee are hard at work to create better opportunities for all Americans. We are moving forward a pro-growth agenda that simplifies the tax code, sells more American-made products around the world, replaces the job-killing health care law, and reforms welfare so that more people can achieve their dreams.”
Note: The Department of Labor reported today that the economy added 292,000 jobs in December and the unemployment rate was stable at 5.0 percent.
