#TaxReformTuesday: Chairman Kevin Brady

April 18, 2017

In this week’s Tax Day edition of #TaxReformTuesday, Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) discusses how the House Republican Blueprint will make “Made in Texas” products more competitive around the world and create a simple, fair tax code for families.

Here’s what Chairman Brady said:

“So we are here at ErgoGenesis. This is a great company—manufacturing company—that does just state of the art chairs. And so today, a ‘Made in America’ product, like these chairs, are at a tax disadvantage here in America and at a tax disadvantage around the world.

“Our House Republican Blueprint ends that. No longer will there be a tax break for foreign products over ‘Made in America’ products. Everyone will be taxed equally. And we are going to take taxes off of these ‘Made in America,’ ‘Made in Texas’ chairs when they are shipped around the world.

“And doing that, we will make America competitive again and leapfrog us from 31st in the world in tax codes, to the top three so we are the best place on the planet for that next new job.

“Our current tax code also makes it so much harder for farmers and ranchers to put food on our tables. Folks like Craig Bailey, who raises cattle in Madison County, and the Snooks who have been ranching for over a century.

“Craig, the Snooks, and so many other Texans spend countless hours and dollars each year filing their taxes. What we are proposing is never-before-seen simplicity—that nine of ten Americans will be able to file their taxes on a postcard-like system.”
