WASHINGTON, D.C.- House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX), accompanied by Tax Policy Subcommittee Chairman Peter Roskam (R-IL), announced today that the Ways and Means Committee will hold a tax reform hearing entitled “Increasing U.S. Competitiveness and Preventing American Jobs from Moving Overseas.” The hearing will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in 1100 Longworth House Office Building at 10:00 AM. The hearing will focus on border adjustment and international tax modernization as a core element of comprehensive tax reform and the implications of these policies for increasing jobs, investment, and economic growth in the United States.
Upon announcing the hearing, Chairman Brady said:
“We have a historic opportunity now to move forward on bold tax reform that will create jobs, level the playing field for our workers, and help America compete and win around the world. Our tax reform hearing will examine how ending the ‘Made in America’ tax helps ensure that our tax code no longer favors foreign products, hurts American workers, and drives businesses and jobs overseas. Ways and Means Republicans are committed to working with President Trump on pro-growth tax reform that will improve the lives of all Americans.”
Chairman Roskam added:
“Our tax code is broken. It puts American businesses at a major competitive disadvantage and hurts American families. We’re committed to an open, transparent process as we explore ways to improve American competitiveness through tax reform.”
