Brady Statement on Administration’s Decision to End Cost-Sharing Reduction Payments

October 13, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) today issued the following statement regarding the Trump Administration’s decision to stop making Cost-Sharing Reduction (CSR) payments to health care insurers:

“President Trump’s action reaffirms what we have said all along: that Congress has the Constitutional authority to decide whether to appropriate cost-sharing reduction payments. As Obamacare’s failures continue to hurt families across the country, Congress is continuing to look for ways to provide certainty and lower premium costs for the millions of Americans still trapped in Obamacare’s collapsing marketplaces. I am committed to working with the Trump Administration to deliver patient-centered, market-based solutions that will increase competition, innovation, and choice in health care.”
