W&M Republicans Speak in Support of Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on House Floor – Part II

November 16, 2017

Ways and Means Republicans continued to express strong support for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1) today in advance of a House vote on this historic legislation.

Urging their colleagues to seize this once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver tax relief and grow our economy, here’s what Ways and Means Republicans – original co-sponsors of H.R. 1 – said about the bill:

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA):

“For years we have been working on this legislation; but Mr. Speaker, this is a historic moment. Congress has the opportunity to positively impact every American by reforming our Tax Code.”

Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS):

“This is a rare opportunity to enact the kind of legislation our constituents need and deserve to grow the economy and put more money in the pockets of hard-working Kansans.”

Rep. George Holding (R-NC):

“I am proud to support this bill that will grow our economy and ensure that businesses of all sizes have the capital necessary to hire more employees, grow their operations, and finally give American workers the raise they deserve.”

Rep. Mike Bishop (R-MI):

“Getting tax reform done right means delivering real relief. … Let’s vote for our constituents today – do it for that middle-income family of four, or the single mother of three – and pass this bill today.”

Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL):

“I commend Chairman Brady, his staff, and the Members of this House who will soon support this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ensure we provide all Americans – especially the most vulnerable – the opportunity to find their economic success.”

Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL):

“With passage of this bill, we finally have the opportunity to help middle class families and get our economy back on track.”

Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA):

This is a jobs bill. … This is about bringing people back home. This is about more take-home pay for every hardworking American.”

Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-TX):

“The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act creates a tax code focused on growth, fairness, and a booming economy for everyone.”

Rep Tom Rice (R-SC):

We have got to make tax reform a reality so that we can restore our competitive spirit and ensure that America once again lives up to its nickname as the ‘land of opportunity’.”

Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH):

“I urge my colleagues to support these historic reforms so more Americans can choose where their money goes — not Washington.”

The House will continue consideration of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and vote on final passage of the legislation later this afternoon.
