Today, Congress will take its final vote on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, moving forward with the first rewrite of the nation’s tax code in more than three decades. After years of a burdensome, complicated tax code based on what works best for Washington special interests, Americans will soon have a tax code that works for them.

Following a major vote to approve the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in the House yesterday, Ways and Means Committee Chairman and lead author of the legislation Kevin Brady (R-TX) said:

“After years of work to develop this legislation, families will soon be able to keep more of the money they earn. Entrepreneurs will be able to turn that next new idea into a business, create more jobs, and invest in their communities. Businesses will bring American jobs and headquarters back home. And with a stronger economy, workers will have even more opportunities to get ahead.”

As this legislation moves to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law, Chairman Brady outlined three important dates Americans should look forward to in 2018:

  1. New Year’s Day:

“America will have a new tax code for a new era of American prosperity.”

2. February:

“Look at your paychecks, because you’ll see the tax relief we delivered.”

3. April 15th:

“You will for the last time file your taxes under this horrible, terrible tax code that we’re putting behind us for the American people.”
