Washington, D.C. – Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement regarding conclusion of the case of United States House of Representatives v. Alex M. Azar II (originally known as House v. Burwell). It preserves a lower court ruling that found the Obama administration did not have the authority to make cost-sharing reduction payments.
“This is a victory for Congress’ authority under the Constitution. For years, the Ways and Means Committee and the Energy and Commerce Committee conducted a joint investigation that found these were indeed illegal payments made by the Obama Administration in their implementation of Obamacare. Today, the House was finally vindicated. I applaud Speaker Ryan and former Speaker Boehner for their work in standing up for the people’s House and the rule of law.”
