WASHINGTON, D.C. — The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) announced changes to his senior staff for the Committee, naming Shaun Freiman as the new Republican chief Social Security counsel:
“We are excited to welcome back Shaun to the Ways and Means Committee. He understands the importance of ensuring equal treatment for current and future beneficiaries of our Social Security program. Having worked both at the Social Security Administration and for Senator Grassley on the Senate Finance Committee, Shaun’s wealth of expertise is crucial as we work to protect Social Security for future generations.”
Freiman most recently served as Special Advisor to the Commissioner of Social Security and Senior Advisor for IT Modernization at the Social Security Administration (SSA) where he improved customer service and modernized the SSA’s aging information technology systems. Having previously served as Social Security Counsel at Ways and Means, Shaun also previously worked for the Senate Finance Committee and the SSA’s Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs. He received a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the James Madison College at Michigan State University.
