The December Job Opening and Labor Turnover (JOLTS) Survey, released today, showed businesses continue to struggle to find workers and fill jobs after President Biden’s economic policies discouraged Americans from reconnecting to work.
The report showed that for every 10 unemployed workers there are over 17 job openings – the highest ratio of openings to unemployed workers ever.
At a total of 10.9 million openings, job openings have remained at over 10 million for seven straight months under President Biden.
Democrats have held back our recovery by paying lavish unemployment bonuses, sending stimulus checks after the economy was already recovering, and creating “emergency” social programs without work requirements.
KEY BACKGROUND:
- President Biden is still over a million jobs short of his promises from the COVID stimulus.
- For working Americans, in one year, Democrats wiped out three years of wage gains through inflation climbing to the highest levels since 1982.
- Between two and four million people have left the workforce altogether after being discouraged to reconnect to work by the revamped child tax credit and COVID stimulus.
- The worker shortage is causing serious damage to Main Street businesses struggling under crushing hiring challenges – economic optimism has plunged from both small businesses and families.
